Pommard, Les Rugiens du Bas, 1er Cru, 2022
justerini & brooks tasting note
It may be psychosomatic but there’s a very real ferrous dint to the aromas of blood orange and wild strawberry that lead to a core of mouthwatering structure and mineral soaked red fruits. The salty intensity on the finish promises much more to come. Serious stuff. Needs time. 65% whole bunch fermentation and aged in 40% new oak. From the iron-rich

The 2022 Pommard Les Rugiens-Bas 1er Cru is 100% whole clusters, which shapes this wine at the moment. Black cherries, bilberry and oyster shell scents, very well poised with impressive mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied, quite strict and linear. This serious and almost stoic Pommard needs a little more animation on the finish.
