Puligny Montrachet, Les Caillerets, 1er Cru, 2016
Such a fine nose, great precision and Puligny grace on the palate too. Exquisite, flowing, ripe yellow fruits with a fresh Sicilian lemon tang. Stylish, at ease and with a wonderfully vibrant freshness. Perfectly composed. Only 20% of this is aged in new oak and the barrels are a mixture of barriques and larger demi-muid barrels so that oak does not influence the flavour profile of the wine too much. The vines are 50 years-old.
critic reviews
Bright yellow with a green tinge. Aromas of nectarine, white pepper and spices are lifted by a hint of lavender. Brisk, energetic wine with noteworthy definition and delicacy to its complex flavors of citrus fruits and crushed-stone minerality. Very fresh for 2016, showing no dried-fruit character. This infant still needs time to knit but should evolve gracefully. Finishes very long and scented.
