Vosne Romanée, Aux Malconsorts Christianne, 1er Cru, 2011
More reticent and reserved than the regular Malconsorts; deep, concentrated and tannic with some flowery violet tones. Aeration reveals more fruit; flavours of morello cherry, bramble, damson, earth, undergrowth herb, stone and minerals; very profound and extremely impressive but this will need quite some time in bottle to unwind. All whole bunch fermentation like the regular Malconsorts.
critic reviews
Good full medium red. Dark cherry, raspberry, pungent spices, pepper and graphite minerality on the nose. Sappy and saline but less fruity and more introspective today than the regular Malconsorts, with nicely integrated flavors of spices, flowers and minerals currently holding the upper hand over the wine's dark fruits. Finishes with superb, slowly mounting length and dusty tannins. This serious, uncompromising, classically dry wine will need to expand in bottle and should ultimately merit a higher score.
