Nuits-Saint-Georges, Clos des Porrets, 1er Cru, 2017
A clear step up from the Villages. Defintiely one of the more generous Clos de Porrets we have tasted whilst keeping its typically powerful, structured side, which marries well with the elegance the vintage. Dense but polished tannins lock in the sweet dark hedgerow, black cherry and damson fruit. Very successful. A 3.7 hectares Monopole of Domaine Gouges; long-lived, always one of the more classic muscular style Nuits of the region.
critic reviews
The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint Georges 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet of black cherries, bilberry jam, a touch of blue fruit and just a hint of licorice. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit. There is an initial burst and then everything clamps back down so that the second half is structured and grippy. Lacks a little charm at the moment, but give this time in bottle.
