Nuits-Saint-Georges, Clos des Porrets, 1er Cru, 2015
Aromatic, generous fruit, more forward and curvaceous than usual, whilst retaining typical Clos de Porrets strength and structure. Dark fruit flavours of plum and bramble. Smooth, fresh and driven. A composed, complete Clos des Porrets of great energy. A 3.7 hectares Monopole of Domaine Gouges; long-lived, always one of the more classic muscular style Nuits of the region.
critic reviews
The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a high-toned, ostentatious bouquet that lacks the subtlety and nuance of Taupenot-Merme’s Les Pruliers tasted directly alongside. This feels a bit forced, perhaps with too much extraction in the winery. The masculine, assertive palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin, but the finish drops away rapidly and leaves you feeling short-changed. I was shocked to discover this is from Domaine Henri Gouges and I am not completely convinced the bottle was showing correctly. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
