Puligny-Montrachet, Les Garennes, 1er Cru, 2023
A fantastic Garenne, quite possibly one of the finest we have tasted. It retains that tell-tale linear line, but with a shade more generosity and texture than usual, just enough to compliment rather than retract from the finesse and tension. Cool and refreshing lemon and orange zest fruit shimmers across the palate. Impressive. Aged in 10% new oak barrels. One of the estate’s and Puligny's highest vineyards planted on poor stony soils.
critic reviews
The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet La Garenne 1er Cru has a well-defined nose with gravelly scents that unfold with each swirl. It's quite strict, with hints of white tea in the background. The palate is well balanced, with a slightly tangy opening, touches of orange pith and a slither of sour lemon. Stem ginger adds a bit of feistiness on the finish. Drink it over the next decade.
