    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Dark but pristine fruit, tight-knit and very intense. The most concentrated Chapitre we have tasted, this needs time to open up and unravel its potential. Dark bramble and sloe fruit mixed with earthier notes of herb and undergrowth come to the fore. A savoury layer of chalk and minerals gradually reveal themselves and add extra dimension on the finish. The lighter sandier clay and limestone soils of the Clos du Chapitre tends to make for a finer, rounder and fruitier style of Aloxe than the classic vineyards such as Fournieres and Vercots.

The 2019 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Clos du Chapitre opens in the glass with notes of earthy cherries, burning embers, cassis, black truffle and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, deep and elegantly muscular, with a fleshy core of fruit and powdery structuring tannins, this derives from an early-ripening, well-drained site of which Follin is one of only two proprietors.
