Aloxe Corton, Clos du Chapitre, 1er Cru, 2019
A more statuesque offering than the villages with a deeper register of fruit, more concentration and power. Sumptuous dark fruits, sweet earth notes and a firm core of ripe dense tannins suggest this will take a little time to reveal all its qualities. The lighter sandier clay and limestone soils of the Clos du Chapitre tends to make for a finer, rounder and fruitier style of Aloxe than the classic vineyards such as Fournieres and Vercots.
critic reviews
The 2019 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Clos du Chapitre opens in the glass with notes of earthy cherries, burning embers, cassis, black truffle and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, deep and elegantly muscular, with a fleshy core of fruit and powdery structuring tannins, this derives from an early-ripening, well-drained site of which Follin is one of only two proprietors.
