Clos de Vougeot, Grand Cru, 2024
As much as this offers typical Clos de Vougeot breadth and gravitas, this is most striking for its edge and snap. Alive with juicy, fresh bramble, loganberry, tayberry and herb character with earthier undergrowth notes below. Lively and driven all the way through the long finish. A parcel planted in 1986 that comprises a 150 metre long row of vines that passes over a range of soil types, more clay in the lower part and rockier limestone in the higher part. Aged in 20% new oak.

The 2024 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru has a fragrant bouquet with lifted red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit, a light sea spray scent emerging with time. Good delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant yet strict tannins, firm grip, quite sapid though it will mellow with time. Give it two or three years in bottle.
