Meursault, Les Boucheres, 1er Cru, 2023
An extremely smart nose melds fruit and stones and smoke and crisp rock salt notes. This was the first vineyard to be picked, on September 4th, in line with the normal picking order. There’s a real sense of depth and completeness to this, with flesh and fine, polished minerality. A classy, grown-up and beautifully balanced Meursault with plenty of excitement waiting to unwind. An excellent vineyard, surrounded by Poruzots, Goutte d’Or and Genevrières, and the biggest appellation in the Génot-Boulanger holdings (only Roulot have a bigger parcel of Boucheres than them).
critic reviews
The 2023 Meursault Les Bouchères 1er Cru is expressive and focused on the nose, with well-defined hints of yellow fruit, Seville orange marmalade and vanilla swirling in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with lemon curd, white pepper and Clementine notes. It's one of the spicier whites from Genot-Boulanger, with a sustained peppery finish. Very fine.
