Santenay, Clos de Tavannes, 1er Cru, 2020
justerini & brooks tasting note
Expressive, beautifully aromatic damson, sloe and raspberry fruit; characteristics which are echoed on the ripe, silky and generous palate. So fruity, juicy and seductive. One of Santenay's most prestigious Premier Crus situated east of the village next to Chassagne-Montrachet. Rarely more than 100 cases of this incredible value red Burgundy are produced each year. Ageing is in used oak barriques.

The 2020 Santenay Clos des Tavannes 1er Cru has a delightful cranberry and Tayberry scented nose. The palate is medium-bodied with a touch of greenness on the entry, but there is plenty of freshness, and it has a rustic charm. A bit raw on its own, but I can imagine drinking a bottle easily at the dinner table.
