Chablis, Le Clos, Grand Cru, Moulin des Vaudons, 2023
Fruit forward with an almost tropical yellow fruit character. Textured and rich with dense fruit reverberating across the mid-palate and then this salty touch on the finish alongside touches of almond and something almost approaching a red fruit note. Grand Cru in dimension, though at this early stage, fruit is very much the dominant feature.
critic reviews
The 2023 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos has turned out very nicely, revealing aromas of sweet orchard fruit, white flowers, freshly baked bread and wet stones, followed by a full-bodied, ample and satiny palate with a deep core of fruit and chalky grip on the finish.
The 2023 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru underwent partial fermentation in grès (sandstone) eggs that have more porosity, plus 500-liter barrels. This has an attractive nose with hints of yellow flowers, white peach and tangerine, much more expressive than the previous vintage. Taut and crisp, the palate is well balanced with fine definition and a touch of white pepper. There is good weight on the finish. This is a Les Clos that is worth hunting down.
