Volnay, Les Caillerets, 1er Cru,

Classy, finely poised and focused Volnay. Red fruit dominated - griotte strawberry and raspberry — the palate is ripe and rich but the flavours float gently over the taste buds. Rich but with a slender shape and a delicacy and underlying fine-grained rock and mineral savoury quality that refreshes. Rich and savoury yet elegant and precise. Situated on the south side of village, Cailleret's steep, well exposed slope and poor, stony soil make it one of the finest Crus in the commune. Part of the blend is from vines planted in 1990 another part is from 50 year old vines bought by Guillaume in 2013.
