St Aubin, Les Charmois, 1er Cru, 2018
As usual this is less mineral than the Pitangerets and fruitier. As full of sunshine as it is, there is a distinct raciness to the fruit you rarely find in the cuvée. Radiant, crisp, yellow plum fruit. Full of juice and vitality. The soils are a little deeper here than in the St.-Aubin Pitangerets and the vines better exposed, facing south. The wines tend to be riper, fruitier and more generous in their youth as a result.
critic reviews
The 2018 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Charmois is more exuberant and fruit driven, delivering an appealing bouquet of orange oil, white flowers and peach, followed by a medium to full-bodied, textural palate that's pure and fleshy, underpinned by succulent acids and concluding with a nicely defined finish.
The 2018 Saint-Aubin Les Charmois 1er Cru has a taut, stony bouquet with light orange blossom and flinty scents. The palate is very saline on the entry, capturing the spiciness of this vineyard with stem ginger springing up on the finish. It just misses a little persistency but otherwise, fine.
