St Aubin, Les Charmois, 1er Cru, 2021
Smoky taut and fine. Very saline with lovely sesame notes and the fresh zest of Sicilian lemons. Crystalline, focussed intensity. Excellent. The soils are a little deeper here than in the St Aubin Pitangerets and the vines better exposed, facing south. The wines tend to be riper, fruitier and more generous in their youth as a result.
critic reviews
Aromas of crisp Anjou pear, green apple, dried white flowers and smoky reduction preface the 2021 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Charmois, a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny wine that's racy and incisive, concluding with a long, saline finish.
The 2021 Saint-Aubin La Charmois 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet with yellow plum, vanilla and touches of almond, with a fine mineralité underneath. The palate is well balanced with fresh citrus fruit and red apple, a keen thread of acidity with a lightly spiced finish. Fine.
