Remi Rollin
Pernand-Vergelesses, Sous Frétille, 1er Cru, 2016
justerini & brooks tasting note
Only half a crop was produced here, seven barrels out of the usual 14. Despite showing richness and ripeness it offers counterbalancing tension and minerality. Nice breadth and juiciness here, fleshy ample flavours of stone fruit mixed with an intense minerally, structured core. Lively crisp notes of salted lemon rind and citrus fruit with butter hints, notes of stone and nut too. Very complete. A mini-Corton but with more zip and tension. Excellent. Aged in 20% new oak for months. From three parcels within this fine, south-facing vineyard, perched at the top of a small hill adjacent to Corton.
