There’s an extra level of sophistication and ambition to this, the oak a little more evident, with flashes of smoke and toast over rich citrus and salt. On the palate, however, this is more focused and tauter than the village bottling, with great intensity and drive. A great success and a Sous Frétille of real character and distinction that finishes with a hugely cleansing lick of salt. From three parcels within this fine, south-facing vineyard, perched at the top of a small hill adjacent to Corton. One of Burgundy’s lesser-known gems.
