Robert Chevillon
Nuits St Georges, Les Vaucrains, 1er Cru, 2015
justerini & brooks tasting note
More tannic and powerful even than the Cailles, but curiously a touch more open and expressive. Monumental flavours of dark cherry, violet, undergrowth and minerals supported by a solid tannic backbone. Assured, precise, toned and complex. A simply stunning Nuits that has everything going for it. One to lay down for several years. One of the great vineyards of Nuits that often rivals Les-St.-Georges, above which it sits directly, albeit in a more brooding and muscular style.
