Robert Groffier
Bourgogne, Pinot Noir, 2023
justerini & brooks tasting note
Always a serious Bourgogne, this offers up floral, ripe, red fruits, with plenty of acid freshness and pep, and a bold, spherical, mouth-filling fruit set. A wine of vitality, that with just a few years in bottle will make for pretty serious drinking. Two-thirds of this comes from the Vougeot commune and one-third Morey-St-Denis. De-stalked and aged in one- and two-year-old barrels.

Rustic aromas of dark berries, smoked meats and spices introduce the 2023 Bourgogne Rouge, a medium-bodied, ample and fleshy wine from holdings situated directly below the Clos Vougeot. That touch of rusticity somewhat depresses my score for what is otherwise a charming regional wine.
