    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Initially a little closed aromatically, but opens up with genteel and high-toned flavours on the palate. Ethereal notes of red cherries and minerals. Lithe and slender but with great complexity. A wine of distinct identity but not a caricature - impeccably balanced. Bright cherry flavours provide the high notes, a cooling stony quality gives an assuredness, composure and complexity to the mid palate, whilst the finish is elongated by rich floral, echoing kirsch fruit. Elegant and sensual, mineral but with a touch of sunshine. The most beautiful marriage of vintage and terroir. A delight. A little known but wonderful parcel of 70-year-old vines within Amoureuses that faces slightly to the north. Fermented with 50% whole bunches and aged in a maximum of 20% new oak.

The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Hauts Doix 1er Cru comes from 80-year-old vines, this blend including 50% whole bunches. It has a powerful nose with iris and sous-bois aromas infusing the predominantly black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, full of tension and quite precise, yet still a little "compact" on the finish. It will require three or four years to unfold once in bottle.
