Vosne-Romanée, En Orveaux, 1er Cru, 2010
Juicy, poised and focused with a silken “Vosne” texture, this offers fabulous flavours of red cherry stone, mineral, griotte, wild raspberry and strawberry; ripe and lush without being too flashy, beautifully nuanced and high-toned. A cracker. A first rate but lesser-known Vosne vineyard, of 56 years old, that sits in the Combe d’ Orveaux on the Chambolle side of the appellation, facing east-north-east. It is a cool terroir that produces wines of elegance and tension.
critic reviews
(57-year-old vines): Bright full red. Lovely cassis and violet perfume, complicated by mineral and bitter chocolate nuances. Sweet, dense and concentrated, with dark fruit flavors complicated by mint, spicy oak and bitter chocolate. Plenty of thickness and volume here to support the oak-driven tannins. Nicely balanced wine.
