Chorey-lès-Beaune, La Piece du Chapitre, Monopole, 2020
Floral, lifted aromas of rose, lead to an equally charming palate of crisp, ripe red berries. There is more backbone and complexity here than the regular Chorey – a gripping structure giving definition to the expressive fruit. Aged in a third new oak. Piece du Chapitre is a fine Chorey single parcel, a monopole of the Tollot Beaut estate, that is influenced by the cool Pernand valley.
critic reviews
The 2020 Chorey-lès-Beaune Pièce du Chapitre comes from just under a hectare and a half of 70-year old vine that has been produced since 2001. It has a bright black cherry, plummy, peony-tinged bouquet that leaps from the glass. The new oak, 25%, is neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. There is a fine bead of acidity here, superb tension with a harmonious, caressing finish with just the right amount of sapidiy. Excellent and doubtless great value.
