Les Mottelettes, Blanc de Blancs, Bouzy, Grand Cru, 2019

An unusual bottling in that there is not a lot of Chardonnay in Bouzy, but a very delicious one that comes from the oldest vineyard on the estate, planted in 1960 on chalk and clay soils. Markedly different from Chardonnay grown on the Côte des Blancs, this is a fabulously expressive, deep Chardonnay that leans to pineapple, smoke, mint and exotic notes – all delivered in a hugely pleasing way and underpinned by a fresh chalk note. Highly enjoyable with bags of character on display but also control. Dosage 3 grams / ltr
