Condrieu, Clos Chanson, 2019
Aged and fermented in 20% new oak barriques and from a plot of 47-year-old vines where the high clay content in the soils tends to produce full bodied wines. The broadest more corpulent of Andre’s Condrieus. Rich full stone fruit, pear and honey notes offset by a tangy saltiness and minerality.
critic reviews
A bit tighter in style than the expansive, flowery 2018, the 2019 Condrieu Clos Chanson adds pineapple and citrus notes to the ripe apricot flavors. It's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and focused, with a long, mouthwatering finish. An intense flavor ride, it should drink well for several more years.
Diaphanous yellow. Intense, mineral-accented scents of fresh pear, white peach and violet take on a citrus pith nuance with air. Silky and tightly focused on entry, then deeper on the mid-palate, offering sappy, mineral-driven orchard, pit fruit and Meyer lemon flavors that show noteworthy tension and floral lift. Closes with impressive, spicy persistence, repeating florality and vibrant mineral cut.
