André Perret
Condrieu, Clos Chanson, 2023
justerini & brooks tasting note
Deeper and more concentrated than the classic cuvee, exuding a complex mix of plum, greengage and silky white fruits; rich but really pretty; it unfurls to reveal a deep spiced and dried herb note on the finish – one of the most accomplished Chansons in recent years. Aged and fermented in 20% new oak barriques for a year, from a plot of 50-year-old vines where the high clay content in the soils tends to produce full bodied wines.

The 2023 Condrieu Clos Chanson needs time to open up, gradually displaying classic peachy and apricot tones mingling with dried blossoms and lemon peel. Medium to full-bodied and refined, the 2023 lands with elegant persistence on the bright long finish.
