Hermitage, 2006
A blend of 3 parcels from Hermitage's hill, 45% Meal, 35% Greffieux, 10% Bessard. Typically enticing aromas of violet, precede a palate packed with supple, plummy fruit notes, ripe sweet red and black cherry flavours garlanded by fresh acids and underpinned by a firm, defining tannic grip. A Hermitage of wonderful power, grace and poise.
critic reviews
(gold capsule, Lot 08172) Bright ruby-red. Strikingly fresh, sexy bouquet of raspberry, dark cherry, incense and potpourri. Racy, finely etched red berry flavors pack a serious punch but are wonderfully lithe and precise. Silky tannins add back-end grip but don't distract from the sweet fruit. An impressively pure expression of syrah, with outstanding finishing lift and cut. This blend of 60% Bessards and 40% Meal fruit is destined for the U.S. market.
