Château de Beaucastel
Châteauneuf du Pape, Hommage à Jacques Perrin, 2016
justerini & brooks tasting note
Creamy, more Grenache-orientated fruit than usual. Notes of small red fruits and strawberries. Lithe in structure and with bright acidity. The nose gains in focus with aeration and a touch of spice is revealed. A sweet woody spice character adding dimension to the red berry and Victoria plum fruits. Intense but pliable and without being at all weighty. A very sensual, high-toned Châteauneuf-du-Pape. A rare parcel selection blend of 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache and 20% Syrah. Aged, liked Beaucastel, in large oak foudre but bottled 8 months later. Production is very limited, only one “foudre” equating to 5,000 bottles was produced
