Blending 70% Grenache with the remainder equally split between Mourvèdre and Syrah, the 2023 Gigondas La Tour Sarrasine starts a little reductive. Time in the glass gradually unlocks just-ripe red fruits, peppery elements and dried herbs. Blackberries add another layer. Much more engaging on the full-bodied palate than the nose, the 2023 offers remarkable overall intensity and freshness. Built around polished tannins and finishing long and spicy, the 2023 is best kept for at least two more years in a cool cellar.
