Tasting Notes

Maturity:
Keep

ABV:
14.5 %

Notes

The structure here is solid but not intrusive, sitting behind a beautiful foreground of brambly fruit mixed with pepper spice and black olive notes. So crisp, a clarity of flavour you simply don’t expect from such a warm dry vintage. There is depth of flavour too and a distinct air of freshness. Superb. 14.5% alcohol but it feels fresher than that. A Syrah dominated blend whole bunch fermented then aged in large steel tanks.

Notes
Opaque ruby. Blueberry, cherry, candied flowers and hints of olive and cracked pepper on the highly fragrant nose. Appealingly sweet and focused in the mouth, showing very good depth to the juicy, smoke-accented black and blue fruit and spicecake flavors. Shows a repeating floral note and bright, spicy lift on the youthfully tannic finish, which leaves behind building dark fruit liqueur and cola notes. Raised in a combination of concrete and stainless steel tanks.

Clos des Cazaux

Clos des Cazaux

The families Vache and Archimbaud have grown vines in the Vacqueyras area for 3 centuries. Gabriel Archimbaud participated in the process of the creation of the Côtes du Rhône appellation and he named his own domaine Clos des Cazaux. His granddaughter married Maurice Vache, her two sons Jean-Michel and Frédéric Vache run the domain today and is the 5th generation of pure vignerons. The brothers are meticulous, obsessively so, their hands on vine-growing and wine-making are resulting in impeccably pure, bright, soulful Southern Rhônes. WINemaking is designed to enhance the quality and purity of the fruit, élévage is uniquely in steel and concrete vat. The delicious Templiers is made mainly from old vines Syrah displaying great depth, dark fruit richness and finesse. The complex, structured and powerful Gigondas La Tour Sarrazine, which only comes from vines high up in the Dentelles, is a full-flavoured Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre blend that demonstrates the harmonising effect of good fruit and acidity in a wine. These are some of the most consistently exciting, and underrated, wines in the Southern Rhône.
