Châteauneuf du Pape, Cuvée Reservée, 2015
Complex, oozing character and terroir. Robust and powerful but not too full throttle, there is a certain charm and elegance at play. Ripe but juicy and fresh - reflecting the uniform, even ripening season. Lush velvety tannins provide the structure for the ripe berry fruit, cherry liqueur, sandalwood, pepper and garrigue notes. Utterly compelling. A blend of 80% Grenache 10% Syrah 5% Mourvèdre 5% field blend of the remainder of the 13 permitted varieties. All from vines aged between 25 and 80 years old. Fermented the traditional way, lightly pressed whole bunch in concrete vats followed by a minimum 18 months in large old. wooden cask, bottled without filtration.
critic reviews
Vivid ruby. An exotically perfumed bouquet evokes ripe raspberry, cherry and garrigue, while a suave floral element expands with air. Fleshy, seamless and broad on the palate, offering intense black raspberry and fruitcake flavors that are braced and lifted by a spine of juicy acidity. The floral note builds as the wine opens up and carries through the sweet, strikingly long finish, which leaves behind red fruit liqueur and licorice notes.
