Pinot Noir, Schlossberg, Grosses Gewächs, 2020
Of the three GGs, Schlossberg is routinely the most open-hearted, beautifully finessed wine on release. Enveloping, sweetly-accented notes of red plum, strawberry, raspberry and cherry buttressed by the most sophisticated toast and oak notes which lend a caressing feel without ever dominating the wine, it all tapers to a stunningly long, sumptuous finish. Raised in 60% new oak.
critic reviews
Furst's Klingenberger 2020 Spatburgunder Schlossberg GG shows a very fine yet intense Burgundian nose with ripe, dense and very elegant red fruit combined with fine yeasty notes. Round and elegant in the mouth, this is a dense, tense and finessed Pinot Noir with grippy, mouthwatering tannins and silky, juicy texture. Very long in the finish, this is again one of the finest German Pinot Noirs of the vintage. The 2020 has great balance and great elegance. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in Wiesbaden, August 2022.
