Grippy slate plates and rocks frame pure citrus and crystalline yellow fruits through to a mouthwatering finish. Laurentiuslay is the top site in the village of Leiwen. The soils are grey slate and hard stone, and the Carl Loewen vines are an impressive 105 years old, fully ungrafted. Fermented and aged in traditional fuder barrels, it is a wine of compelling value.

The 2025 Riesling Leiwener Laurentiuslay Alte Reben, from around 100-year-old vines on single stakes in gray slate, is really shy on the nose. The palate, however, is clear as a bell, wonderfully bright, superbly fresh, really balanced and so supple, so elongated, so elegant, so serene. This just falls effortlessly into place, showing inherent, natural balance. (Dry)
