Maximin Herrenberg, 1896, Riesling, Alte Reben, Trocken, 2025
justerini & brooks tasting note
Riper and more expressive than the Laurentiuslay, revealing peach, apricot and exotic fruits alongside floral notes and red-slate spice. There is impressive density here, balanced by freshness and precision. The wines of Herrenberg are typically more herbal and structured than those from the blue-slate sites. The Trocken comes from ungrafted vines planted in 1896 in the central section of the vineyard. The village of Longuich is situated on red slate soils in the direction of Trier.
