Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr, Riesling, Spätlese, 2016
Lemons, citrus zest, fine slate crushed rock salt notes fill the nose in the Juffer Sonnenuhr Spatlese. The palate is refined and graceful, with lithe yellow fruit and white flowers to the fore, the blue grey slate of Juffer Sonnenuhr in the background for now. Wonderfully controlled.
critic reviews
The 2016 Juffer Sonnenuhr Riesling Spatlese has a very fine and flinty bouquet with delicate raisin aromas. Lush and delicate on the palate, this is a fine and filigreed Spatlese with an intense but still delicate and salty finish. Well balanced but rather sweet. Give it 10 to 15 years to develop its true class.
A bit of cheesy, reductive “Mosel stink” shrouds the nose but parts to reveal scents of apple, pineapple and mango that anticipate the luscious, tangy impression on a polished, subtly creamy palate. This finishes with soothing, forwardly fruity length.
