The Goldtröpfchen has a ripe and clear profile that is more exotic and fruit forward than the corresponding Wehlener. Cherries, nectarine and green papaya notes mingle with a beam of pineapple-infused acidity, with a touch of creamier mango lassi on the finish. The acidity here is high but its ripeness produces a lovely wholesome, integrated, generous feel in the wine.

The 2023 Riesling Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Spätlese remains shy on the nose, but the palate reveals ripe, almost candied Amalfi lemon that is bright and smooth. Its pure and luminous aroma shines through and the fruit plumbs fine depths, going deep into the stone for a visceral experience.
