Tasting Notes

Maturity:
Drink

ABV:
12 %

Notes

Somewhat closed and reticent at first, aeration in the glass reveals touches of blood orange, apricot and honeysuckle. Very stylishly textured with sweet minerals and perfect integration between silky richness and ripe fresh acidity, this will require some time to flourish, but will doubtless reward those prepared to wait.

Notes
(for 375 ml.) Pale golden yellow. Subdued aromas of pineapple, wild honey and lime. The sweet peach fruit and salty minerality are extremely complementary on the palate; elegant more than rich in spite of a touch of smoky botrytis. Delicate and appealing auslese.

Emrich Schönleber

Emrich Schönleber

A great Nahe estate that was started by Werner Schönleber in the 1960s with just two hectares. Today the estate comprises 14 hectares, mainly Riesling, on the slate and quartzite soils of the Halenberg and Frühlingsplatzchen vineyards. Intense vineyard work and spontaneous fermentation in old oak casks together with ageing in steel vat conspire to produce intense, long lived Nahe Riesling that combines floral, charming qualitites with intense minerality. For the last five years, this estate has been perfoming to is maximum, rivalling Germany’s very greatest producers.
