Monzinger Halenberg, Riesling, Auslese, 2024
Cool fruited with a mix of yellow flesh, chamomile and cherry and white strawberry notes; this is always a plush and silky and high toned Auslese. Fresh and drinkable in style, not demanding. Gorgeous. At just 900L in total, the Halenberg Auslese is always a tiny cuvée. Frank Schönleber is a believer that botrytis in Auslese is essential to develop the raisined and exotic flavours that define the category over time.

The 2024 Riesling Monzinger Halenberg Auslese was made with botrytized fruit. A flicker of passion fruit on the nose turns this into a full-blown force on the palate, bringing all the immense sweetness and exquisite tartness of the fruit into a heightened expression. The 2024 is so fine, bright and clear. The botrytis here served to concentrate the fruit, but there is not a hint of it in flavor. Purity, poise and absolute precision make this exquisite. (Sweet)
