Oestricher Doosberg, Alte Reben, Trocken, 2015
justerini & brooks tasting note
Another vineyard contending for promotion to Grosses Gewächs in time. A wonderful old vines cuvee from the Doosberg vineyard, fermented in large oak casks with wild yeasts, the fruit here is resplendent with sun-kissed golden fruits, a touch of quince, yellow plum, and pear, exuberant and full but lively too.

This cask-raised Riesling reached 12.8 percent alcohol but without engendering any sense of heaviness. Seckel pear is tinged with lychee and wreathed in musky peony-like perfume. Ripe and expansive, the polished, fruit-dominated palate impression gives way to a lingering finish supplying a surprising and welcome influx of refreshing lime and mouthwatering salinity.
