Zellerweg am Schwarzen, Herrgott, Grosses Gewächs, 2016
Broad, complex and also precise, with a strong stony nose, then yellow peach, honey and limes - a bold, broad spectrum of flavours that are also very fine, etched upon a salty citrus core and a fine mineral finish. Serious precision, intensity and balance here. Powerful and grand.
critic reviews
The 2016 Riesling Zellerweg Am Schwarzen Herrgott "VDP Grosse Lage" is predominantly sourced from the parcels below the village. It opens with a lovely pure, chalky-spicy, lemony bouquet that is deep and concentrated. Round and elegant on the palate, with fine tannins and vital acidity, this is a pure, very salty, well-structured and stimulating Riesling with a lovely kick in the finish. With fantastic grip and piquant acidity, this is a long-distance runner that should be cellared for another to or three years, although I love the music and tension here.
