Battenfeld-Spanier
Zellerweg am Schwarzen, Herrgott, Grosses Gewächs, 2017
justerini & brooks tasting note
Broad, complex and also precise, with a strong stony nose, then yellow peach, honey and limes - a bold, broad spectrum of flavours that are also very fine, etched upon a salty citrus core and a fine mineral finish. Serious precision, intensity and balance here. Powerful and grand.

The 2017 Molsheim Zellerweg Am Schwarzen Herrgott Riesling GG is coolish and flinty on the precise, fresh and reductive nose that is less open or generous than the Kirchenstuck. On the palate, this is a crystalline, salty-piquant, super tensioned and sustainable dry Riesling with grip and loads of crushed stones and salts. Lemon fresh and aromatic on the finish. Impressive wine. Tasted at the domaine in March 2020.
