The Cinsault is a Southern Rhône variety, used in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the Midi, also popular in South Africa where it is know as Hermitage and was crossed with Pinot Noir to produce Pinotage, as well as being an ingredient in Lebanon's Château Musar. In the Languedoc it is sometimes blended with Carignan to produce, light spicy fruit driven style wines.
