Tenuta Pacher Hof

Tenuta Pacher Hof

One of the most historic and traditional estates in all of Alto Adige, there are documents referencing the Pacher Hof farm, as it was then, even before the establishment of the Neustift Abbey in 1142. Maria Pacher eventually married a young winemaker by the name of Josef Huber in 1849, who brought both his name and the art of viticulture to the farm. Pioneers in the Valle Isarco / Eisacktal, the Hubers experimented with a wide range of grape varieties before settling on Sylvaner, Pinot Grigio and Gewurztraminer as the ideal bedfellows for the sandy, loamy soils and steep slopes of the valley. Today the estate is managed by Josef Huber’s great grandson, Andreas Huber. From their eight hectares, they work with eight different varieties, seeking dry, mineral yet aromatic expressions. The wines are vinified in a combination of stainless steel tanks and large acacia barrels and are generally bottled after six to eight months on the lees.
