Barolo, 2013
A layered complex wine with high top notes of tight red and dark forest fruits. This is far more than a "regular" Barolo, offering notes of salt, earthy spices and undergrowth which underlay fresh bright highlights of alpine strawberries. Generous, powerful but alluring and with a digest quality to counteract the enticing fruit sweetness. A blend of fruit from Serralunga, Castiglione and la Morra. Aged for 24 months in 20 percent new oak.
critic reviews
The 2013 Barolo is round, supple and inviting. Sweet red cherry, plum, spice and tobacco notes infuse this soft, approachable Barolo. Silky tannins add to the wine's considerable appeal. The 2013 will drink well with minimal cellaring, but this wine also has a way of aging effortlessly for years. Vineyard sources are Rocchettevino, Pernanno, Cerretta and Liste.
