Gaja
Barbaresco, Sori San Lorenzo, 2009
justerini & brooks tasting note
A brilliant, harmonious wine, corpulent flavours of ripe black and red forest berry fruits, rich, spicy and fresh, the tannins are firm but covered with enough fruit to suggest a good ageing potential, hints of flower and mineral complete the wonderful palette of flavours. The most distinguished of Gajas three 2009 Barbarescos. Aged for a year in large french oak cask and a year in smaller barriques, a third new.

Silky and gracious on the palate, the 2009 Sorì San Lorenzo looks to be a wine that will drink well with just a few years of cellaring. This is a decidedly floral, lifted yet radiant wine with terrific balance and plenty of the sexiness that defines the very best wines of the year.
