Barbera d'Alba, Riserva, Pozzo dell' Annunziata, 2013
justerini & brooks tasting note
A tiny vintage for this cuvee, even by its own microscopic standards, only 266 magnums of this were made. Razor sharp red fruit flavours flecked with rock salt notes, the texture is smooth and alluring, the flavours hugely intense. A blend of wine from the Pozzo and Annunziata vineyards both in the La Morra commune, orientated to the east. The vines aren’t particularly old, averaging 20 years; however, the extraordinarily high planting density makes for microscopic yields, only half a kilo per vine. The wine is aged in new barriques, 40% new oak.
