Roberto Voerzio
Barolo, Fossati, 2022
justerini & brooks tasting note
Fresh brambly-hedgerow fruits meet spicier hints of cardamon and orange peel. As ever, quite tight and forceful on the palate, but this is balanced with a real seam of graphite minerality and crushed rocks and chalk. There is a sleekness to the blue and violet-laced fruits that nicely offsets the vineyards naturally nervy profile in 2022. Fossati is 33ha in total, the upper part in La Morra and lower part in Barolo, they are in the La Morra sector. One of the smallest cuvees in the Voerzio stable, on average 2,000 bottles are produced each year.
