    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
Le Ragnaie, Brunello Di Montalcino, 2006

A large part of the grapes for this come from vines at Ragnaie itself, at 550 metres above sea level the highest vines in Montalcino, complemented by grapes coming from Petroso and Castelnuovo dell’Abate. A fresh, high-toned and fragrant nose of Alpine strawberries and sloes, beautifully bright and lush, long, elegant fruit flavours complemented by notes of earth, fresh herb and Asian spice. Multi-layered, intense and very moreish. Stunning.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino has developed beautifully over the last year. It is an especially delineated wine for the vintage. Finessed, silky tannins frame an expressive core of ripe red berries, freshly cut flowers, licorice and spices. The mid-weight structure suggests the 2006 is probably not going to be a long-term ager, but it is delicious today, and should continue to drink well for at least a handful of years. This is a lovely showing.
