Trust Your Gut, Chenin Blanc, 2022
A multi-regional blend, the Trust Chenin is 60% from a 40 year old vineyard on the Paardeberg in the Swartland and 40% from Stellenbosch’s Polkadraai Hills, a site planted in 1981. A gorgeous nose of waxed lemon, pressed flowers, flint and freshly cut peach, the 2022 is even keeled and a pleasure to taste. Aged sur lie in 500L barrels with no battonage until 2 weeks before bottling.

The 2022 Trust Your Gut is pure Chenin Blanc bush vines on decomposed granite soils cropped at 4 tons per hectare, matured in 3rd fill 500-liter French oak barrels. It offers dried honey, passion fruit, yellow plums and wax resin. Fine delineation. The palate is lively on the entry with fine tension, just a touch of lemon rind, and a focused, quite pithy and saline finish urging another sip. Very fine.
