    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
Aalto, Pagos Seleccionados, Ribera del Duero, 2005

PS stands for Pagos Seleccionados, or selected parcels. It is a blend uniquely from Aaltos finest vineyards in La Horra and La Aguilera ranging from 60-100 years old. 100% Tinto Fino. The wine is aged on average for 30 months in new French oak barrels. The 2005 is powerful and sophisticated yet with round velvety tannins, full of generous ample fruit, crushed autumn and forest berry fruit, bramble and blackcurrant with griotte cherry notes, more complex shades of liquorice, chocolate and minerals. Incredibly long, concentrated and exquisitely fine.

Inky ruby. A heady, complex bouquet evokes fresh blueberry, boysenberry, cherry compote and potpourri, with hints of vanilla and cola emerging slowly. Stains the palate with intense, energetic dark fruit preserve and floral pastille flavors. A spine of juicy acidity adds structure and powers a strikingly long, floral finish, which features supple tannins and lingering spiciness.
