Cabernet Sauvignon, Montecillo Vineyard, 2019

Explosively and almost exotically aromatic, Montecillo is produced in minute quantities from a vineyard situated at over 1500 ft on Sonoma’s Moon Mountain. As the nose unfurls, cracked coriander seed, iron rich stones, dried flowers, cassis, gravel all emerge, with a deeper note of dried beef below. The dried flower notes reappear on the palate alongside a a seam of minerality, then red fruits, anise, orange, rosemary and sage. There’s so much going on here in this mid weight, transparent and expressive Cabernet Sauvignon – it’s like little else.
