Just an exceptional vineyard. Very classy with great definition on the nose. Sleek, polished confit lemon fruit combines with delicate minerals that buffer the palate and give a silky yet kinetic feel. This really is lovely; sophisticated and assured. A natural richness is offset by a line of energy at its core. Wonderful poise and elegance. From four specific parcels vinified separately high up in the Charmes Dessus vineyard, just below Clos des Perrières and abutting the vines of Dominque Lafon, this represents a clear step up from the straight Charmes and is one of the estate's flagship wines. Aged in 30% new oak.

The 2021 Meursault Les Charmes Dessus 1er Cru is focused and delineated on the nose, apple blossom mixed with grilled walnut and a touch of smoke. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, maybe just missing a bit of concentration, though there is satisfying mineralité on the finish. Drink over the next decade.
